Welcome to Beale AFB, California! The School Liaison is here to assist military-connected families in preparing for school transitions and provide educational information and resources to help support your student’s educational success.
OUR MISSION:
The Department of the Air Force School Liaison Program is committed to outreach, advocacy, and partnership initiatives that generate real-time solutions for military-connected students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 as they face global, educational challenges and transitions.
Team Work
Collaborates with CA Office of Education & local school districts in ensuring qualified high school students from military families meet graduation requirements on time. Develops and maintains partnerships with parents, military leadership, schools, and communities.
Advocate
Consults with community leadership officials on education, life, special needs, and related issues to increase awareness of the unique challenges military children/families face.
Community Education
Provides information for parents, teachers, staff, and school administrators on how PCS moves, deployments, and multiple school transfers impact military children.
Dialogue
Discussions with parents and administrators regarding academic achievement issues and concerns within the local school districts.
Intervention
Consultations with families and school officials regarding accommodations for school aged children with special needs (e.g., local programs, enrollment, IEPs, placements, etc). Identifies and works to remove barriers to military student education success
School Requirements
Nationwide kindergarten and 1st grade entrance age requirements. A checklist of the documents required to enroll school-aged children into the local schools as well as those in the new receiving schools at new duty stations.
Additional Resources
Provides links to educational websites and other beneficial websites with insights to initiatives that support military families throughout the world.
Educational Resources
Links military families with educational resources such as school district rules and regulations, schedules, calendars, and lists of curriculum and activities offered, if available. Provides updates on current and pending legislative initiatives that benefit school aged military children.

School Age Programs
The School-Age Program provides care for children ages 5 to 12 before and after school, on school holidays and during summer vacation. Our program is accredited through the Council on Accreditation (COA), and provides quality care for children of active duty military, DOD and NAF civilians, reservists and base contractors. We promote an enriching environment by meeting the social, cognitive, physical and developmental needs of school-age youth. Fees are based on total family income. The Youth Center is a walking program and walks to and from Lonetree Elementary/Wheatland Charter Academy. Bus transportation to and from Bear River and Wheatland High School is provided by Wheatland Unified.

Youth Sponsors
Youth Sponsorship Request Form
The Youth Sponsorship Program helps relocated youth to become familiar with their new home at Beale AFB, CA. Sponsors are matched to youth according to their gender, age, and interests. The sponsors escort incoming youth around the base, school area, and to the Child and Youth Program Centers. They introduce the new arrival to others within their age/grade level and to various activities.

Youth Clubs
Junior Staff
A program that assists Club members ages 13 to 18 in exploring a career in youth or human services. Young people prepare for future roles as human services professionals by participating in career development activities.
Torch Club
Torch Clubs are chartered small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 11-13 focusing on character development.
Power Hour
Power Hour helps Club members ages 6-12 be more successful in school by providing homework help and tutoring and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.
Keystone Club
This unique leadership development experience provides opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18 to participate in activities in Academic success, career prep and community service.
4-H
Based on their interests and guided by adult mentors, youth develop their own pathway in 4H. They select from a broad menu of local 4H programs to learn more about.
Smart Girls
SMART Girls offers young women – ages 8 to 17 – guidance toward healthy attitudes and lifestyles, eating right, staying fit, getting good health care and more.
Passport to Manhood
Passport to Manhood consists of 14 sessions for ages 11-14, each concentrating on a specific aspect of character and manhood through highly interactive activities.
Boys and Girls of America Bgca
The Youth Center is an affiliate of the BGCA and offers many of their programs, from sports, photography and homework, there is always something happening.
